Rhymesayers will forever get love on this blog. If you haven’t picked up on it yet, Minneapolis hip hop is a sub-culture that I am pretty passionate about. Enough to get play on a site that is in majority favor of electronic music.
Brother Ali may be one of the few remaining true emcees around. I base this on the infamous KRS One’s definition – “Rapper’s spit rhymes that are mostly illegal, emcees spit rhymes to uplift they people”. Ali always compliments the solid production behind his tracks with deep, meaningful, and inspirational lyrics. He is a devoted Muslim and while I normally brush protruding organized religious connotations aside, I can’t help but accept the purity behind Ali’s lyrics and allusions.
“The Heart and The Mind, they don’t always coincide” – Haunted Housebroken. Chill out, take a rip, and soak these lyrics in. Love everyone, every day.
