The EP, Mind Flay, builds many mysteries around itself, from the artwork to the sound, the curious will easily click. Forward-thinking and sonic surprises seem to be a factor in the innate draw of BRUER.
BRUER, having a diverse amount of interests and inspiration when growing up, began embracing the electronic side of his music lifestyle early on, which slowly began to takeover. This led to the eventual enrollment in Icon Collective, a shake up for the 18 year old at the time.
As the first single, “Nasty,” shows heavy-hitting and gritty-natured music at the forefront, the solo DJ/producer slips in a gracious amount of originality that builds in remembrance here for sure. The combo there is something that artist BRUER, really hits a sweet spot on.
With even the arrangement playing a clear, impactful role in the start-to-finish flow of the work, “Nasty,” is a natural-fitting track to bring hype to the upcoming January 28th expanded experience.
Featuring a generous amount of 808, strong energy, and a percussion side that syncs up well with the atmospheres of the single, many facets build excitement around what will be a bass-packed EP.
BRUER had this to share about the EP:
“The ‘Mind Flay’ EP is a rebirth of my sound and identity as BRUER. I wanted to evolve as an artist and make a statement. I had made a lot of this heavy melodic bass stuff but I had never done anything quite like this before. This felt new and exciting to me. It felt different. Producing music has always been about having fun and I felt the need to expand. This is the first chapter to that story.”
