There’s a newcomer on the rise, who you’re going to want to know by name if you don’t already— meet DJ and producer Bruno Martini. His first released single with Alok and Zeeba “Hear Me Now”, originally launched this Brazilian native onto the scene, breaking records on Spotify, You Tube and Brazilian music charts across the board. This paved the way for him to play some of the world’s most prominent stages early in his career, like Electric Zoo Festival, Beyond Wonderland Mexico, and Rock in Rio, with some of the biggest names in the industry, like Steve Angello, Galantis, and Hardwell. With an incredible start to his career, it came as no surprise when his latest single, “Sun Goes Down” featuring Isadora, landed over 7 million streams on Spotify and well over 2 million views on Youtube. Recently, we caught up with Bruno Martini to talk about the success of his hit single, get the inside scoop on Brazil’s electronic music scene, and see what this rising star is up to next.
How did you get your start in the industry?
Bruno Martini: My father works with electronic music. I was born inside his studio, he’s a musician and music producer. I started playing the guitar when I was 8 years old, then I had my rock band and when I turned 14 years old I signed a deal with Disney and started working with them. Some of the music I made was used as theme songs for a few movies.
Can you describe your sound to us in 3 words?
Bruno Martini: Love, Passion and Fresh.
What’s been your most accomplished moment to date?
Bruno Martini: Working with Timbaland.
What inspired you to create the track “Sun Goes Down.”
Bruno Martini: I live in a tropical country, which is Brazil. I love the beaches. Every time I get a chance, I just go to the beach with my friends and we have fun. With this record, I tried to bring this summer vibe into it and make something that people can really have a good feeling when they listen to the track.
Can you walk us through your creative process when making music?
Bruno Martini: There’s no logical process, there is no formula and this is the beauty of making a music. I’m a civil engineer, so I’m very methodic, but when we talk about music, I just follow my heart. I have a studio in Brazil and if I collaborate with someone on a track, I like to be one-on-one with the artist.
Since you’re a native Brazilian, can you give us the inside scoop on what the music scene in Brazil is like, and what you love most about playing there?
Bruno Martini: Electronic music is growing a lot in Brazil. My record “Hear Me Now” together with Alok and Zeeba, was the first electronic one made by Brazilians to hit number one in all charts in Brazil. We are very proud of that.
What’s your favorite club or festival to play in either Brazil or anywhere in the world?
Bruno Martini: Brazil is always fun! People from Brazil are really passionate. We do have some nice clubs like Green Valley, Laroc and P12.
Is there one festival in particular you’ve fantasized about playing before?
Bruno Martini: Tomorrowland,. And this year, it was my first time playing at Tomorrowland Belgium.
What have you got in the works for the rest of 2017?
Bruno Martini: I’m always working, I have a lot of news coming soon this year. I already have a lot of tracks done and I’m looking forward to releasing them!!
Thanks, Bruno!
