Something about the subtlety of this video moves me. Not because it depicts Burning Man in any particular way, but for how it serves as a visual metaphor for festival culture. Blue sequence two peice and a cowboy hat. Aviator shades, bandana, tattooes and a septum piercing. Corsette and lace leggings. These are just a few of the many faces in this short film – a microcosm for diversity and individuality lurking in electronic dance music culture everywhere.
Why hoop? I believe that for a true hooper – 1.) it is considered their form of dance 2.) a chance to connect solely with themselves, as everything else becomes secondary to the circle embracing them.
This video was filmed and edited by Rob Volkel. You may recognize the track in the background, which happens to be Porter Robinson’s ‘Langauge‘.
