When Hangout Music Festival’s lineup dropped a few months back, one DJ act stood out above the rest, Caked Up – not because they were the absolute most famous or the most recognized DJs on the lineup, but because I couldn’t believe Hangout chose such a fierce, unique, and underrated duo to represent the festival. DJs make up a fraction of what the Hangout experience encompasses, which is why I was taken back seeing that Hangout took the time out to understand, appreciate, and book Caked Up.
Hangout Music Festival is an eclectic festival on all levels: the people, the music, and the vibes differentiate throughout the day and stages. Caked Up will easily be one the highest energy shows you’ll see at Hangout. They’ll be starting the day off right, Sunday at 11:30, with their upbeat, trap-heavy style; setting a dope vibe for the rest of the day. Personal favorites I’d love to hear is:
Caked Up goes hard on the editing with “Fancy (Caked Up Remix,)” cutting up the sensual vocals of Iggy Azalea while a whirlwind of percussion rhythms cycle around your speakers. A few beats later, you’re lifted by an energy-packed build-up and hit with a drop full of unusual sounds and infectious background effects.
Caked Up’s Mad Decent collaboration with Meaux Green “Thirsty” will make you see water droplets in completely new ways. The track embodies proof that Caked Up can make a sick rhythm verse out of practically any sound. Between the liquified drops, sexy-lady sounds, and sustained synth effects, “Thirsty,” leaves anything but a bad taste in the mouth of a listener.
Hangout Music Festival is just around the corner. Now is the moment to scoop up your friends, head down to the Alabama-coast, and experience a three-day thrill ride that you’ll never forget. Caked Up is one of many ultra-talented acts that are passing through the multi-genre festival, a festival where everyone finds something they love.
