Calvin Harris was recently quoted saying he was going back to making good music, we might have finally found out why. Forbes has listed Harris as one of the top earning 30 under 30 with a reported income of $46 million dollars.
To put that in perspective it’s more than 2.5x what Peyton Manning is earning playing football this year. One person is out there performing at a high level week in and week out, while Harris has regressed significantly as a DJ mostly choosing to play the same set over and over again.
I’m not saying that he hasn’t earned it, but Calvin Harris live is nothing like he was before “We Found Love” was released. Hopefully the money and security will allow him to experiment more with both his productions and live sets.
Other members of the list include Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. The difference between those artists and a DJ like Calvin Harris is the amount of money that they’re able to earn from gigs. Harris may be able to spin two sets in one day where the production is already prepared in the nightclub or other venue. Not to mention it’s only him, there’s no supporting band or singers.
Given that artists are always looking for ways to increase their earnings, don’t be surprised if more celebrities aka Paris Hilton try to use their fame and turn it into a DJ career. The sad thing is, some fans may not even be able to notice the difference.
