Less than three weeks from now, thousands of wide-eyed festival-goers will descend upon Indian Lookout Country Club just outside Albany, New York, for the twelfth annual Camp Bisco music & arts festival. As July 11th creeps closer, Biscoians have had tidbits of information to tide them over courtesy of the festival’s top-notch marketing department. From a massive initial lineup reveal to special guests, (Zeds Dead baby, Zeds Dead) curated tents, and art installations, a steady stream of updates have kept the festival fresh in the minds of fans for several months.
Now we’ve come down to the wire, settling into the seemingly interminable home stretch that preludes the lead-up to festivals all summer long. Team Bisco – perhaps astutely attuned to our anxiousness – has divulged details regarding the late-night Silent Disco and curated tent lineups, a remix competition, various workshops, and additional ticketing information.
(Shhhhh! It’s a) Silent Disco
An ever-popular tradition at Camp Bisco, this year’s Silent Disco will be spearheaded by Passion Pit, Exmag, and Manic Focus. If I’m not tuckered out by the time the SD gets going, I’ll also personally be checking out DCarls, Russ Liquid, Horizon Wireless, and Space Jesus – four acts you shouldn’t miss either. The Disco will be rounded out by Alan Blancato, Business Casual Disco, Cosmal, The Golden Pony, Intermixture, J Demonic, KDSML, Max Mischief, The Melker Project, Mr. Bonkerz, Munson Meeks, Schlang, Strooly, Subset, Thump, and Voltron.
Curated Tents
(Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Accept That Dog Blood Will Play a Surprise Set)
We already knew this year’s dance tent curators: French Express, This Song Is Sick, and OWSLA vs. Boys Noize Records. Now we’ve received the more important news: who’s playing where. Friday night’s French Express tent will feature Perseus and Moon Boots, the former being the founder of the label and the latter being an integral part of its rise to prominence. While not confirmed, I’d bet several baguettes (or whatever it is the French are using for currency these days) that Chris Malinchak – a label regular – will also be participating.
This Song Is Sick – music blog/amateur music doctors – is set to present a multi-genre experience on Saturday, with performances from HeRobust, Heroes x Villains, Congorock, Crizzly, Gramatik, and Dirtyphonics Live. Trap and dubstep and soulful-glitch-hip-hop, oh my! Last and pretty much the opposite of least, EDM kingpin label OWSLA and Boys Noize Records are bringing out the big guns. Boys Noize (duh), Flux Pavilion, KOAN Sound, Dillon Francis, Seven Lions, UZ, Alvin Risk, Destructo, Nick Thayer, and Strip Steve will be rattling the rafters Thursday night, and if (when) we’re lucky we’ll see Sonny Moore team up with Boys Noize for a super-secret surprise Dog Blood throwdown.
Remix “Demons”, Play Camp Bisco, ???, Profit!
All you aspiring DJs out there in the ether of the interwebs, perk up your ears: Camp Bisco has teamed with Indaba Music and Zeds Dead to offer YOU a chance to take the stage at CB12. All you have to do is remix the duo’s track “Demons”, submit it on Indaba’s website, and encourage all your friends to show their support and vote for your track. More information can be found here; be sure to get a move on, as the contest ends this Monday at 5 p.m. EST. It gets cutthroat out there, so don’t be afraid to obtain votes by any means necessary.
Miscellanea, Thy Name is Bisco
From new ticketing information – limited Saturday tickets are on sale now for $90 – to a full slate of workshops (the body painting, hooping, and yoga workshops caught my eye the most but the full list is worth a read), these were the last few bits of exciting info I just couldn’t shove anywhere else. Anything I may have missed, as well as basic information I’ve assumed you’re already in the loop on, can be found here. Now try to stop counting the minutes; if you spend all your time waiting for the drop, you’ll miss all the excitement of the build.
