Camp Bisco, one of WhiteRaverRafting’s favorite summer-time festivals, could move to a new location before this year’s event. According to news sources, such as the Albany Times Union & Daily Gazette and MCP Presents – the festival’s promoters, have yet to file for the proper permits necessary to host this gather at the Indian Lookout Country Club in the fall.
According to Dale Warner, the local town code enforcement officer, Camp Bisco representatives usually meet with local authorities following each event to speak about any problems, though, this year that meeting never took place.
It has also been reported that Indian Lookout Country Club owner, Frank Potter, said MCP has yet to reserve his space.
Now, If for some reason Camp Bisco doesn’t return to the Lookout Country Club, Potter says “It’s going to be a financial blow to the county and the town as well.” It’s obvious that the local community counts on the money that the ravers bring in when traveling down to this beloved three-day vacation.
“MCP hasn’t sought the special-use permit needed for the festival. The permit was discontinued last year after the promoter failed to comply with a number of contingencies, most dealing with post-event reporting. These stipulations included participation in a review group discussing the festival afterward and providing the board with a post-event synopsis, including a notarized attendance report indicating 12,000 tickets or less were sold.” – Duanesburg Planning Board Chairwoman Sandra Scott
WNYT.com, local news channel 13, reported this morning, February 9th, that “the man who owns Indian Lookout says Camp Bisco is considering moving the concert to Saugerties.” Saugerties is a small town near Woodstock, about an hour south from where the festival has typically been held.
Camp Bisco hasn’t released any statements regarding this topic of conversation as of now, though, we’re counting on them to do so. There has been many rumors traveling throughout the community that we would like put to rest. WhiteRaverRafting certainly hopes that CB 2014 will take place near the Mariaville lake as it has for the last seven years.
“The short answer is, yes, we are planning on having a camp this year, but there are some significant changes being made, and our number one priority is providing a safe event for our fans. We are hustling like crazy to make it happen and we have made huge progress in the last few weeks, and I’m feeling really good about it.” – Marc Brownstein (Founding member of The Disco Biscuits)
Overall, the good news is that Camp Bisco will certainly happen this year, however, we’re not sure of the location just yet.
