The third and final day at Camp Bisco was absolutely beautiful. It had been a full three days of amazing vibes with wonderful people. Camp Bisco provided a fantastic musical experience and we hope to see more of you attending next year. Enjoy our Day 3 review and make sure to look over all the Day 3 photographs.
Minnesota
There is nothing like bass music to rattle your body as soon as you wake up, luckily for us Bisco provides this luxury. With that being said we woke up around 3:00 to enjoy wonderful sounds provided by Minnesota. He dove head first into his set under the B.I.G. tent, showcasing all of his skills. His track selection was brilliant and he featured more trap music remixes than other artists we had seen all festival. Since the beginning of the festival trap music had really grown on us and I’m sure it will grow on you as well. Especially the remix of ‘Mercy’ by RL Grime and Salva, this tune had been the trap anthem of all three days.
Atmosphere
Slug to us is one of the greatest emcee’s and it was a pleasure to see Atmosphere perform live. The passion behind their performance was astonishing. Slugs ability to hit home with the emotional lyrics of ‘Fuck You Lucy’ as well as joke around and become personal and responsive to his audience was phenomenal. They played new as well as old songs and expressed how pleased they were with the crowds energy. We got to enjoy records like ‘She’s Enough’, ‘Sunshine’, and ‘Yesterday’. This performance was a treat and a really great way to break up all the electric dance music we were going to drown ourselves in for the rest of the day. Normally I wouldn’t add an alternative hip hop music group into an electric dance music review. But it was truly impossible to over look Atmosphere’s performance as well as Slugs ‘Stephen King Rules’ t-shirt.
Big Gigantic (Photo of Dominic Lalli)
Dominic Lalli (shown above) and drummer Jeremy Salken form the livetronica jazz group Big Gigantic. They saw a huge crowd before them this year as they took the main-stage on the final day. There is something about the saxophone live that makes girls go wild, we didn’t complain. We got a preview of Lalli’s ability to stun a crowd when he performed for a short time with the Emancipation on day two. This time we got to experience an hour and a fifteen minutes of beautiful saxophone and drums as BG played killer tunes like their ‘Do I See Color’ and ‘I Need A Dollor’ remixes. The duo possesses such much skill and they bring live performing to another level.
Bassnectar
Bassnectar had arguably the largest crowd at Camp Bisco this year, we were very excited to see him perform for his fifth year in a row. After he was underway the vibe was incredible as all the bass heads gathered together. Shortly after everyone had got into his set disaster struck. The first time the mixer died select few noticed as the music instantly began again. Following the third and fourth time you could tell the crowd was frustrated, Bassnectar grabbed the microphone and explained the issue. He jokingly offered to give the mixer away as the tech team worked hard to get the show back on the road. Rumors quickly spread that the Disco Biscuits had something to do with the technical difficulties because they had been bitter about Bassnectar ‘stealing their spotlight’ over the last five years. Who knows? whatever the truth may be what matters is that the show continued. Only the most dedicated fans stuck around (mostly everyone) as Bassnectar dropped bombs reviving the vibe he had previously created. Tunes like ‘Pink Elephant’ had amazing visuals and the overall light show was brilliant.
Dillon Francis
We personally think that Dillon Francis’s set was the best set all festival. He took the B.I.G. tent stage and immediately got to work dropping trap remixes and electro house tunes for the first portion of his time-slot. Once things got underway he settled in as the crowd grew larger. About twenty minutes into his set he started to drop some sexy ass moombahton. He selected popular records like ‘Music is Dead’ and his ‘Hulk’ remix along side ‘Dill The Noise’ which was also featured by Kill the Noise on day one. The highlight of his performance was when he unleashed ‘Masta Blasta‘ a Trap-Ah-Ton record with an unbelievable drop. Many people were very impressed with Francis’s track selection. There was no doubt in our mind that his set was going to be great but he really surpassed our high expectations.
A-Trak
This former DMC world champion brings a different style of DJing to the table, one we don’t see often anymore. A-Trak is a turntablist so seeing him live was a real treat because he actually bring skill behind the decks. Turntablism is what makes Fool’s Gold Records unique when compared to other labels. They have artists like Craze, A-Trak, Nick Catchdubs, and more that keep the tradition of scratching and manipulating sound alive. With all that aside A-Trak played some incredible records, he dropped a few different mixes of ‘The Big Bad Wolf’ along with his ‘New Lands’ remix . While Dillon Francis was on stage jumping around with the Fools Gold mascot, he put the icing on the cake with a ‘Heads Will Roll’ remix leaving the entire B.I.G. tent in awe. It was a night that no one wanted to end and still a week later we are suffering from Camp Bisco withdrawals.
Thank you for hanging out with us and reading our day three review of Camp Bisco Eleven. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to hang around amazing people and listen to great music for three days. Like we said before we hope to see more of you at the festival next year!
