This year Camp Bisco returned to Montage Mountain in Pennsylvania for another year of dancing, partying, and water activities. The Montage Mountain water park would be transformed to host four different stages as well as countless water rides for patrons to indulge in throughout the day. Being that this was my first camping festival ever, I knew I would be in for quite the surprise as I was a novice at managing the camping aspect. After arriving Thursday afternoon and lugging all the gear to the camping area, my friend and I quickly realized we would not be camping anywhere near the bottom of the mountain. Large tents equipped with tapestries and chairs already covered the bottom of the mountain and stretched as far up as we could see. We then proceeded to make one of the longest and most treacherous walks to the very top of the mountain to find a camping spot for the weekend. Despite the hike, within no time we’d begin relaxing and chilling with our neighbors who soon became our festival crew for the entire weekend. Meeting great people was something that came more than easily at Camp Bisco.
Day one would see performances from artists like Slander, NGHTMRE, and Big GrizMatik. An assortment of all types of music put Camp Bisco in a different league from other festivals. There was not one stage that would be hosting the same music as another. Above The Waves stage would be the smaller of one of two main stages and turned out to be our favorite stage of the weekend. Fans had the option to either stand on the floor and enjoy the music or sit and relax on top of the hill while still having a perfect view of the stage and artist performing. Above The Waves would also be located right next to the large wave pool that was quite the attraction for people to cool off in during the day. Not much farther to the left stood the disco lodge that was the only stage located inside. Although small, it would host some fantastic dubstep and techno throughout the weekend. Located both near the camping sites and the disco lodge were two enormous tankers that served as water stations for the entire weekend. They were more than helpful for temperatures that could sometimes go over 90 degrees.
Past the disco lodge and through a small path located in the woods stood the Electric City stage. This was the largest stage at Camp Bisco and it resembled an amphitheater equipped with countless seats towards the front and then grass at the top for people to relax and dance. This stage would host some of the bigger performances at Camp Bisco including Odesza, Zeds Dead, and Griz. Although the Electric City stage was undoubtedly the largest stage, the seats proved to be a bit of an inconvenience and many patrons found the Above The Waves stage to be much more hospitable. All the way to the left of Montage Mountain stood the final stage, The Office. Being slightly larger and equipped with more lights made it a step up from the Disco Lodge. It saw performances from artists like Speaker of The House and 12th Planet.
Being located on mainly dirt resulted in the The Office being a dust cloud for many performances. However, neither dust nor rain would bring down the spirits of anyone attending Camp Bisco. Throughout its three days our crew met some of the most down to earth and nicest people at any festival we’ve been to. Even further than that, all the medical staff, ground control, and police officers were as helpful and caring as the fans that attended. Some standout sets from the weekend included Griz, Big Grizmatik, Marshmello, and of course Odesza to end out day two.
Located in between most of the stages and camping areas stood some of the most delicious food vendors you could find. Whether it was double bacon egg and cheeses after a hard night of partying or a chicken bacon and ranch wrap to prepare for the long night ahead; all the food was on point. With food as diverse as the types of music, there was no one left unhappy when trying to locate something to eat. After the headliners finished up their peformances, Camp Bisco would host a secret b2b set in the Disco Lodge each night. The Disco Lodge would host performances like Zeds Dead b2b 12th Planet and a rumored Griz secret set on day one that never actually went down.
Camp Bisco transformed montage mountain into a music festival paradise equipped with outstanding vibes, great music, and even better food. It seems now that the three days on the mountain went all too fast. RaverRafting hopes to be able to return to this magnificent festival for 2017.
