Must Die’s newest LP Death and Magic has just dropped. This album is gaining a lot of buzz outside of the EDM community, mainly with cats. Our cats broke down Death & Magic track by track and here are some of their reactions.
Gem Shards
Must Die’s first song on Death & Magic starts out with an intriguing orchestral riff. The song immediately goes into heavy techno with a hint of distinct dubstep licks. What our cats think:
Together
“Together” is a little more trappy, but has a laidback vibe. Must Die does a great job of integrating his lead synth with his deep drum loop to create a well-oiled layered track. What our cats think:
Zipper- ft. Datsik and The Ragga Twins
Must Die tributes Jack U in this high energy treggae track. “Zipper” features The Ragga Twins and Datsik to create a reggae influence trip-hop song. What our cats think:
Filter System- ft. Descender
This snare-heavy track features a repetitive loop full of trappy samples that appeal to the masses. This track has the ability to channel robots. What our cats think:
Imprint- ft. Tkay Maidza
“Imprint” is channeling the G-House movement in this hip-hop heavy song. Making all the girls twerk, this track is up-beat gem in a land of hard-step. What our cats think:
Feathers
“Feathers” features an 8-bit vibe with the use of heavy synth. The song is high-energy with a progressive tone. This is the epitome of 8-bit techno. What our cats think:
Hellcat
“Hellcat” channels 90’s grunge-step. The song is very high-energy with traditional drops and dubstep-esque sounds. You must wear Jincos and Kandi while listening to this song. What our cats think:
Pay Me- ft. Mantis
This track is a traditional US dubstep song. “Pay Me” sustains an even mood and is placed thoughtfully in the mix. What our cats think:
Project Ghost
This song channels a calmly dirty vibe. Even though this song has ambient tendencies, it is more hard and grungy. What do our cats think:
Star Throne
“Star Throne” helps round out this diverse EP. It starts off as a slower song with a lot of soul. This track progresses with a glitchy sound then ties back into the slower synth part. What our cats think:
