On the verge of releasing their highly-anticipated album White Women, Chromeo has announced a slew of tour dates and a new single with chillwave artist Toro y Moi. Comprised of members P-Thugg and Dave 1 (who also happens to be A-Trak’s brother), Chromeo’s music evokes a sense of classic disco tunes coupled with a sleek electro sound. They have gradually teased their coming album by releasing singles in the last few months (notably the funky “Over Your Shoulder” track).
Their new tour takes them across the US and Europe, going from concert halls to festivals such as Buku Arts and Music Festival. Opening for them on select dates are rising stars Oliver and the dubbed “female Flying Lotus” Tokimonsta. It’s clear Chromeo wants to dive head-first into the recent success of EDM by simultaneously exposing new listeners to their nu-disco sound and showcasing some of the best rookie talent around.
Topping off this announcement is the debut of a new single, titled “Come Alive” and featuring Toro y Moi, another young artist who is currently rising to prominence. The song features both the vocals of Toro y Moi and Dave 1 and carries its disco sounds with eclectic guitar playing and a catchy hook. Despite Daft Punk’s contribution to the resurgence of disco, Chromeo has been refining their 70’s sound for years and proves with each new track their mastery over the genre.
