Pryda (Eric Prydz) released two new original Cirez D productions today through Mouseville Recordings. The first is called ‘Drums In The Deep’ which features a vocal sample from The Lord of The Rings’ character Gandalf. It fades and swells with repetition, as if the voice bears some desirable secret muffled in translation.
‘Thunderstruck’ is the energy of the two, an aggressive installment which plays no victim in a running set. You say “dark” or “ominous”, I say a proper inclusion meant to provide the listener with an opportunity to channel out some heavier emotions. If ‘Drums In The Deep’ orchestrates reflection, ‘Thunderstruck’ embodies the element of emotional reconciliation.
The ceilings are low, the lights are dimmed, and the sound is captivating you within a small area reeking of earned musk. Meant to identify intra-personally as opposed to the intention of group appeal many progressive and big house releases are created with, the music Prydz produces under the moniker Cirez D isn’t for everyone. It’s a developed appreciation for raw emotion and the ability for one to connect said beats with equivalent moments of self reflection…by way of intimate 4am dancefloors.
I keep seeing the word techno getting passed around and I kind of hate it. Maybe I’d go with something like “tech house” but I kind of hate that too. Electronic music like this is by far the least understood, widely misinterpreted due to it’s lack of commercial flair and ambiguous surface meaning. Completely organic, it’s ours forever. No need to seek a general definition here.
