The man who needs no introduction, Claude VonStroke, is back with a double-satisfying EP Walay (My Bae). Along with Get Real, the mystery performances of Barclay Crenshaw, curating Dirtybird Campout and numerous festival stages throughout the world, the Rave Dad of Dirtybird Records still has time to shell out some musical magic of his own.
The title track kicks off with a drum-kickin, synth swarm of rhythm that is definitely not human, rising into a chorus of stretched and pulled transmission that could be robotic cats fighting, and although we’re not sure, we’re digging it. “Raw Nerve” renders dark and mysterious to begin, abruptly punching speakers in the gut with a vibrating bass line that demands your attention as techno always does.
