Having risen up as one of the most prominent music festivals in the U.S, it has been reported that the 2014 edition of Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival has broken the Boxscore record for ticket sales for the third consecutive year. Held in Indio, California, this festival’s exotic desert scenery is supplemented by a diverse range of artists and musicians, bringing in a mixed crowd of Indie-music lovers, and electronic fans alike. This year, the highly-popularized event was held over two weekends in April, both of which were completely sold out, with an estimated 579 000 total attendees (approximately 96,500 per day), and bringing in a total of $78,332,000 in ticket sales – an increase from 2013’s $62.7 million.
Overall, this year’s two-weekend affair was regarded to be quite successful, with notable artists such as Skrillex, Calvin Harris, Chromeo, and the reunited Outkast taking the stage alongside distinguished Indie/Alternative artists such as Arcade Fire (who really topped of the experience with a false Daft Punk appearance). The festival is already looking ahead to next year, having announced that it will take place over the weekends of April 10-12th, and April 17-19th in 2015.
