Michigan does get it’s fair share of festivals and events, from Electric Forest, Movement, shows at the Intersection in Grand Rapids, to Elektricity in Detroit. But what about Lansing? Being from Lansing, we don’t get much in the way of shows for dance music, except for maybe a handful per year. So when I saw the announcement for Commencement Fest, I was ecstatic. React Presents and the Elevated Music Group are catering to those of us in the Lansing area and the surrounding area to bring us something first rate in our backyard. Commencement Fest is a no-brainer.
Adventure Club, coming off of a huge tour and a brand new debut full length album Red // Blue are legends in the melodic/dubstep scene, and having been around for quite some time, it’s a great opportunity for any fan to see the numerous tracks under their belt that they may throw into the mix, especially in Lansing which doesn’t happen often. And of course we cannot forget the legend RL Grime. A fellow veteran who leaves his fans in awe with every set that he plays.
What more could you ask for? Dubstep, trap, melodic, and heavy bass. All you need are your raging shoes. Joining the party is the Young Bombs, who are also no stranger to the scene and have made many waves in the scene, along with Graves, who is an up and coming hip-hop/trap wonder. Throw in the rap star Lil Yachty, and you’ve got yourself a motherflippin’ party! So take a break from your exhausting school schedule and studying, grab your tickets, and come get wild and weird on Saturday the 21st at the Lansing Center from 7pm to 12:30am.
