Hailing from Brisbane, Austraila, COPYCATT has been concocting bass mixtures that push the boundaries of expected sounds. His new EP AKA/SUAVE, released on LA90 shows COPYCATT’s evolution in his producing skills and taste. The EP is fearless and displays the beauty of neuro-hop, with delicate attention to every note, COPYCATT takes almost senseless noise and constructs them in such a way that a clear story can be followed and enjoyed throughout the tracks.
The EP starts off strong with “AKA,” a track inspired by dubstep, hip-hop, and drum & bass. Relying heavily on quick shifts of mechanized notes and low growls, the track forms a steady addictive beat that gets the body moving. “SUAVE” takes a bit more of a relaxed approach by adding in aural pleasing melodies to the bass filled experience adding a stronger sense of euphoria and giving the track a mysterious vibe.
