CounterPoint is back, and the only appropriate reaction is sheer joy.
The festival tweeted Wednesday morning that it will be returning to Atlanta April 25 – 27, 2014.
MCP Presents – which organizes CounterPoint, Camp Bisco and Buku – lost their pre-reserved 2013 dates when TomorrowWorld took over their contract with Boukaert Farms in Chattahottchee Hills, Ga.
CounterPoint organizers will work with TomorrowWorld and Belgian event company ID&T to host The Gathering, a “festival within a festival” for campers on TomorrowWorld’s soft opening this Thursday night.
The April comeback is three days long, which may signal that the festival could have a soft, Thursday opening like they did in 2012 when Big Gigantic, Adventure Club and Beats Antique rocked a side stage for those arriving before Friday.
The festival also announced it will be moving from Boukaert Farm to Kingston Downs, Georgia. It is roughly the same distance from Atlanta, but is in an area known more for horse racing than concerts. There are also several hotels nearby, which may have factored into the decision.
We’ll bring you more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, just try to contain your excitement.
