August Bank Holiday Weekend in the UK is going to blow your mind. For their 20th Anniversary festival, Creamfields has announced the most electrifying line up they have ever had, ranging from trance and techno legends to drum & bass and house newbies, all creators of 2017 club classics.
1998 saw the first ever Creamfields festival in Winchester, that attracted a whopping 25,000 people. Since then, the event has been hosted in many locations and its Liverpool club night Cream has gained global success, starting off in South America. Voted “Best Event” and “Best Dance Festival” multiple times by many publications since the start of the millennium, it’s safe to say for EDM, Creamfields is transcendent.
Creamfields’ 10th Anniversary show saw the event become a two day-er with a diverse line-up including Kasabian, Tiesto, Ian Brown and Fatboy Slim. Since then, the festival has expanded from one day to four days, showcasing EDM giants from the past and present. In addition to this, Paul Oakenfold’s spinoff album Creamfields was nominated for a Grammy award.
The event starts off with a four stage special on Thursday 24th August, including Amsterdam deep house producer Sam Feldt who shot to fame with the remake of Robin S’ ‘Show Me Love’. The Cream Terrace stage will see Nottingham born Philip George, star of charting ‘Wish You Were Mine’, plus many more DJs from all over the world.
Friday 25th August is when the party starts with eight stages to choose from, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice, as all have electronic stalwarts performing. BBC Radio 1 welcomes dance pop’s The Chainsmokers, legendary DJ Annie Mac plus Sigma and Danny Howard, regulars at all BBC festival shows.
The Steel Yard stage takes influence from the style of music showcased at its smaller events; be sure to check out Creamfield’s Steel Yard London, being headlined by Axwell & Ingrosso on Sunday 28th May to get a taster. The August event welcomes Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz as headliners, plus a set from London legend Alan Fitzpatrick. Other artists to watch out for on Friday include Armin Van Buuren, Seth Troxler, Eats Everything and Sander Van Doorn.
Saturday, with its 10 stages, provides a more varied range of music with repeat performances from Deadmau5 and Armin Van Buuren, if you didn’t catch them on the day before, but the likes of Stormzy will be leading the Jam Packed stage.
Big acts on Saturday include Oliver Heldens, Martin Solveig, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Marshmello, Above & Beyond, Tchami, Diplo, Dillon Francis and DVBBS. Pete Tong will also be hosting a stage, All Gone Pete Tong, that will feature Sven Vath and The Martinez Brothers, plus The Black Madonna as a special guest.
Sunday’s 11 stages bring Tiesto back for the final day on the North Stage to follow Hardwell and Don Diablo. Faithless and Fatboy Slim return for another anniversary show with more from Eric Prydz, Paul Oakenfold, Camelphat and KSHMR.
