CRSSD Fest Artist Spotlight: Dense & Pika

With CRSSD Fest quickly approaching and set times recently released, it’s time to buckle down and craft the perfect schedule. After glancing at the grand roster of talent that will be gracing the Waterfront Park this coming weekend, we’ve come to realize that putting together a set schedule can be quite the difficult feat. With that being said, there is one duo in particular that we believe is a must-see and that is techno vikings, Alex Jones and Chris Spero (aka Dense & Pika).

British DJ/production duo, Dense & Pika, first came into light in 2011 with a plethora of white label releases. Shortly after, they garnered the attention of Scuba and Adam Beyer with multiple releases on their highly-regarded labels, Hotflush and Drumcode, and other illustrious imprints such as Hypercolour. In 2014, the pair started up their own label, Kneaded Pains, which has become known for its growing catalog of bold brazen techno. Dense & Pika have also been recognized for their top-tier remixing talents, winning the DJ Mag category for ‘Best Remix’ in 2014 for their rework of Paul Woolford’s “Erotic Discourse.” Since then, they have remixed many award-worthy tracks, including Tiga’s “Planet E” and Audion’s “Mouth to Mouth.”

The pair has toured worldwide, taking the stage at the most well-known nightclubs and music festivals, such as Berlin’s Panorama Bar, London’s Fabric, Amsterdam’s Trouw, Awakenings Festival, Junction 2 Festival, and the upcoming CRSSD Fest. CRSSD Fest will be taking place March 3-4 at the Waterfront Park in San Diego, California. You can find Dense & Pika delivering their one-of-a-kind style of hard industrial techno on Saturday, March 3 at the City Steps stage, so be sure to save a spot in your schedule for the dynamic duo.
