Veteran world-class DJ, music producer, showstopper, fashion icon, Honey Dijon embodies it all. Born and raised in the home of house music, Chicago, Dijon’s house roots run deep and she is known for her distinct take on the Chicago sound. Now residing in New York, her sound takes on The Best of Both Worlds (which also happens to be the name of her debut album), delivering a style that’s unique solely to Honey herself.
From house pioneer Derrick Carter introducing Dijon to the underground house music scene in Chicago to the legendary Danny Tenaglia mentoring her after relocating to New York City, the now veteran DJ has pushed through the underground scene and has become an international star. Dijon attributes the evolution of her sound to these influential artists. In Dijon’s words, “The drama of his (Tenaglia) delivery and risk taking always informed me of how I wanted to present music. Of course, Derrick and Chicago house were also very influential in my development as an artist, so it’s this combination of Chicago and New York that has helped me develop my signature sound.”
The multi-faceted producer has been a staple in the club and party scene for quite some time, having played in nightclubs all around the world, including Berlin’s Panorama Bar, London’s Ministry of Sound, Tel Aviv’s The Block, Ibiza’s Space, and last, but certainly not least, her hometown’s Smart Bar. Dijon’s pristine mixing skills are not only reserved for the major clubs and warehouse parties, but extend to the world of high fashion. The fashion forward artist has been curating Louis Vuitton’s men’s shows, has worked with prestigious designers Hermès, Balenciaga, Givenchy, and continues to be one of the most sought after DJ’s in fashion.
More recently she has turned her hand at production. Dijon has released remixes on notable labels, Classic Records, Rampage, and Nervous Records. Last October, Dijon released her debut album, The Best of Both Worlds via Classic Music Company. The album showcases her diverse style, incorporating a mix of deep, acid, funk, and disco house in her productions. It only proves that her skills far exceed mixing.
