If you’ve never heard of Crywolf, this is an artist that you most definitely need to catch up on. Justin Phillips of Los Angeles has been on a whirlwind ever since he stepped into the scene in early 2011. He has a brand new EP out entitled ‘Runaway’ featuring British Columbian producer Ianborg that is one of the most emotionally driven EDM albums out there right now. His sound has been buzzing in the community since day one and there are a quite few reasons for that.
Crywolf is more than a DJ/producer
Crywolf is not only a producer. He has been known to play multiple instruments. He uses his instrumental training when producing new music and during his live sets. He is an interchangeable artist who enjoys playing live dj sets as well as making very detailed compositions. You can thank your eargasm to Crywolf’s dedicated musical training. He is an advocate for the arts and recently posted a video encouraging all of his fans to pick up an instrument.
Crywolf has toured with big names
Crywolf has toured with huge names over the past few years. In late 2012, Crywolf opened up for Big Gigantic during a national tour. He also performed with Minnesota in 2013. During his latest tour, Crywolf has partnered up with Bear Grillz, Skrux, and Mitis. With the release of ‘Runaway,’ be on the lookout for a headlining tour and festival appearances.
Crywolf’s sound has evolved into a continuous growth
Crywolf’s sound has the same trajectory of most successfully trained musicians in that his sound is always continuous. His EPs feed off of each other and help to tell a story from start to finish. He has been producing at a rate of one EP per six months. His debut album ‘Ghosts’ was the first chapter of his story, but Crywolf keeps extending his sound with the release of ‘Angels’ and finally with ‘Runaway.’ He is evolving as an artist and each of his albums builds on one another without losing his core values and sounds.
Crywolf’s newest EP ‘Runaway’ is being rewarded
With the release of his newest EP ‘Runaway’ just shy of a month ago, it has already been recognized by top blogs, gained thousands of Soundcloud plays, and has landed him a #2 spot on iTunes Top Dance Tracks. ‘Runaway’ isn’t the only EP that is gaining buzz. His first album ‘Ghosts’ was awarded the #1 spot on Dubstep.net on the first day that it was released. He was also awarded in the Top 20 on Hype Machine. ‘Angels’ was awarded with a Top 25 spot on the Billboard Electronic Charts. I won’t be surprised if he is rewarded on a grander scale in the near future.
Crywolf is a humble artist who loves his fans and the support he receives
Crywolf is a very down to earth artist that wants his fans to understand that without them, he wouldn’t be the producer he is today. He often meets and greets fans and is very friendly toward them. Crywolf takes selfies with his fans and asks them to tag themselves in his photos. He is an artist of the people and the people bow down to him because of that!
What are you waiting for? Listen to what all the buzz is about because you could’ve just found your favorite artist. His seemless album ‘Runaway’ couldn’t have been possible without the collaboration of British Columbian producer Ianborg.
I have been following Crywolf since he debuted at the Big G show and have tracked his success since then. He is a great artist who defies the genre of EDM. Crywolf does Crywolf and that’s what makes him so special.
