After an adverse city council vote on Friday resulted in the banning of all Electronic Dance Music events from occurring at Toronto’s Exhibition Place, Dada Life has made a contrite blog post in order to explain to fans as to how this ban will affect their upcoming, and highly anticipated “Dada Land Compound” event. Originally scheduled to take place at the Direct Energy Center on April 25th, the Swedish duo has notified ticket-holders that despite weeks of preparation, the event can no longer occur as planned, and that so as not to cancel altogether, they will be playing a less elaborate show at Sound Academy on the same date. Not wanting to compromise the production quality of the “Dada Land Compound”, they will work to reschedule their massive event somewhere else in Ontario some time in the near future.
Along with Dada Life, some other noteworthy electronic acts such as Adventure Club, Henry Fong, and Tritonal will also be playing at Sound Academy on the 25th. In an effort to make it simplify the logistics for fans, all tickets purchased to the Compound event will still be valid at the new venue, and anyone who tickets purchased for more than $99.50 will be refunded the difference of the ticket’s new face value price. Alternatively, full refunds will also available up until 1p.m. EST on April 21st. To top it all off, ALL ticket-holders will be automatically refunded 15% of the $99.50 price.
Many dance music fans have spoken out against the city of Toronto’s actions to oust these events from occurring on publicly-owned grounds, and have launched a rapidly-growing petition against the decision, which you can sign here.
