Soul runs deep in South, and Atlanta native Rhett Whatley aka Daily Bread is taking it back to it’s roots with his latest LP The Darkness Before Dawn. On a normal day you can find Rhett elbows deep in vinyl hunting for samples to flip and assimilate into his own compositions of electro-soul.
His latest endeavor follows the path he’s been steady crafting the past few years, blending old school samples with home-made beats and melodies in perfect harmony. Listening to The Darkness Before Dawn is like taking a walk down memory-lane, with nostalgia injected tracks that pay homage to past Atlanta artists through Rhett’s passion for vinyl and vocal sampling.
Set to release next Tuesday, Daily Bread has hit all the spots that we look for in a great electro-soul album. In the meantime we’ve been treated to the single “Life Goes On” which showcases that sampling skill in conjunction with snappy percussion and groovy melodies. We see him play dusty vocals off electronic elements blending what once was with what is to come. Check it out below and follow him and RR to make sure you get the new LP in your ears next week.
