Daniel Portman has officially made his mark on 2017 with his striking new Lingua EP.
This Zurich native has continuously blown the world’s dance community away since first catapulting onto the scene well over a decade ago. Throughout the years, Daniel Portman has unloaded countless hits that regularly sit at the top spots on charts like Beatport’s Top 100 and others alike. A legend of his own making, he’s created a distinct sound that is exceptionally well-crafted and arguably always one step ahead of his piers. His most recent music mixes Techno with Progressive House, where even fragments of groove and soul can be pinpointed. This time around, Daniel Portman shows us what it means to be a leading “progressive” DJ by concocting almost an entirely new and incredibly developed sound that it is more dynamic, more captivating, and pushes all the right buttons to get a crowd roaring.
Out now on Enormous Tunes, Lingua is a 2-track Progressive House EP, booming with Psy-House beats, inventive drumlines, and Tehcno feels that make for a unique experience. The title-track “Lingua” delivers a gorgeous build-up to a heart pounding drop, streamlined by edgy drum segments. Then, there’s the second track “Benham Creek,” which turns it up about ten notches. It opens with a whimsical, almost eerie, sounding oriental flute before a menacing drumline kicks in at a rapid pace. Easily our favorite of the two, the track is dark, compelling, and absolute fire. Lingua EP has quickly left quite the impression on all of us as it’s amassed well over 90k plays on Spotify and has quickly gained support from Daniel Portman’s fellow industry greats. Without a doubt, progressive house aficionados, tribal heads, and techno fans will have Lingua on repeat, over, and over, and over again.
