There are a few names in the world of EDM that have become synonymous with the genres they produce. When it comes to dubstep – Datsik is one of those names.
His music has become an iconic and inseparable aspect of modern bass music, and tracks like Nuke Em’, YES, and Swagga have become dance floor staples for any artist looking to get a crowd head-banging. Now, Datsik makes his grand return to cities around the continent with the 2018 Ninja Nation Tour.
Joined by acts including Space Jesus, RiotTen, Wooli, Carbin, and Savage – the tour comes loaded with a heavy helping of bass music in all of its unique, heavy, and over-the-top forms.
Landing in Richmond, Virginia on Jan. 30, the tour took over the historic venue, The National in full force. Known collectively as the “Ninja Nation,” Datsik’s fans filed out of the freezing January air into the venue dressed overwhelmingly in black – an aesthetic decision that seemed to intentionally match the darkness of the music to come.
New realms of visual stimulation were explored thanks to the “Shogun Stage” – a lighting and stage set up designed in the style of traditional Japanese dojo temples – but amped up in totally non-traditional ways with help from 200 massive LED panels and piercing laser beams that synced with Datsik’s signature LED hat and mask.
After explosive sets by RiotTen, Wooli, and Space Jesus, Datsik took to the Shogun Stage for a floor-shaking set of old-school dubstep classics reworked with new releases like “Pressure Plates,” “Warrior Of The Night,” and “Bad Behavior,” from his latest EP, Master Of Shadows released in January on Firepower Records.
The show may have been the most earth-shaking (literally) event to come to The National – but don’t take our word for it. Check out tour dates and ticket prices below to experience the Ninja Nation tour for yourself.
