Just caught Datsik and his new vortex a few nights ago where between that time and now, he has managed to drop three new tracks on us via his soundcloud. No downloads were provided so join us as we rely on the streams as find myself particularly fascinated with his remix of Colin Munroe’s ‘Your Eyes‘. The ominous pitch plus kickdrum combo is reminiscent of Bassnectar and the relationship between the vocals and Datsik’s signature bass lines brilliantly engineer a most succulent marriage of “dark” and “beautiful”.
‘Juicebox’ is a vivacious, scratchy original symbolizing a dated hip hop track with new age bass and a violin that puppets the track to fruition. Beetles summed the mix up as “Some 100 bpm shit i whipped up!”
A remix to Linkin’ Park that I’m not too impressed with. The idea is there, effort and direction noted – but the sound just doesn’t do it for me. I think he could have done more justice but perhaps the goal was to keep it minimal. Albeit, to each is own.
