Remember the parody article that alleged Guetta has ‘chorophobia’ the irrational fear of dancing and he accidently played his self-help cd at a gig and had to leave the stage? Well we told you that he read it and apparently he didn’t like it enough to get a lawyer involved and file a takedown request.
This type of takedown is much different than one filed through the DMCA and just gets Google to remove it from their search index. As history would prove though, getting things removed from the internet just isn’t that easy and the better approach is just to try and ignore it and move on. Just ask Beyonce’s publicist.
While the wunderground is a parody site, it doesn’t explicitly come out and say that anywhere. Common sense would force one to realize that it’s all fabricated and quite clever, but rarely to individuals exhibit such traits online.
Here’s what Guetta’s lawyers said,
I think it’s funny that the last paragraph says that they’ve been instructed to take all appropriate measures, blah blah blah. That’s the same as asking your little sibling to do something and when they ask why you respond, “OR ELSE!”
Wunderground editor Mikey Maguire seems to have taken the threat lightly and with a sense of humor. He obviously isn’t bending over for some lawyer at least not now anyway.
Props to Wunderground for fighting the good fight! I hope you’re able to defend yourselves from an onslaught of Parisian hackers and Guettians (a word that I just made up to describe Guetta fans).
