Day One reminds of Fox Stevenson in his early years – a dynamic choice of bass-heavy drum patterns, a cloud of background effects and melodies that make the atmosphere come alive, topped off with well-written, ear-candy vocals.
Actually, Day One was one of the first artist to release on Monstercat back in the day, he’s yet to release much since 2013, but their sound still holds true to those older elements that are now becoming almost nostalgic.
“Serenity (Ft. Aloma Steele)” acts as a sick comeback track that’s sure to get long-term bass fans riled up as well as new dance listeners. Their style will only be expanding, as Day One will be releasing a brand-new EP one week from today. “Serenity (Ft. Aloma Steele,)” a feature on the new EP, speaks volumes via lively tweaks to Day One’s music elements mentioned above, but also throws in a few real-world surprise sounds that make “Serenity” a journey.
If you’re diggin’, dive it to what Day One has to offer, this is far from the first original and certainly won’t be the last.
