The year is quickly coming to a close, which means it’s time to celebrate big at one of the nation’s largest NYE music festivals, Decadence Arizona. For two nights, December 30 & 31, attendees are invited to celebrate the biggest names in dance music at Rawhide Event Center in Chandler, Arizona. The fifth annual Decadence Arizona will feature an array of genres across dance music including artists like Above & Beyond, Eric Prydz, Green Velvet, Marshmello, Porter Robinson, REZZ, Skrillex, and many more. While event organizers, Relentless Beats revealed the lineup phase by phase, there was one artist in particular that caught our attention, the progressive house titan, Cristoph.
Full name, Christopher (CJ) Costigan, better known as Cristoph has catapulted his way into the electronic dance world in a relatively short period of time, however, his musical background stems from a very premature age. The Newcastle native came from a family fully immersed in the art of DJing, which ultimately led to the young talent getting his hands on some vinyl and learning the craft himself. Following in his idols’ footsteps, Cristoph’s DJing eventually progressed to music production and the newfound maestro dropped his debut EP in 2013.
Early on in his career, the musical mastermind landed himself releases on prominent labels such as Kittball Records, Selador, and Truesoul. However, his major standout moment came about in 2016 when he joined Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep in Sound imprint, making him the inaugural artist to launch the label’s prized 8-track album concept series. The following year, Cristoph’s course came full circle, signing to both of his heroes’ labels, John Digweed’s notable Bedrock Records and Sasha’s illustrious Last Night on Earth. His unique sound was spreading across dancefloors like wildfire and it wasn’t long until another longtime hero, the legendary Eric Prydz took notice. In 2017, Prydz took Cristoph under his wing, giving him the opening spot for his iconic EPIC 5.0 show and becoming a staple on the bill during Prydz’s Hï Ibiza residency. Most notably, Cristoph was the first artist to sign to Prydz’s new imprint, Pryda Presents, launching the label with his single “Feel.” Since then, its been a whirlwind of releases including “EPOCH,” “Voice of Silence,” and more recently, his collaborative single with the Grammy nominated CamelPhat, “Breathe.”
2018 has been a major year of touring for Cristoph. We’ve been fortunate enough to catch Prydz’s prodigy at festivals and shows across the globe, from his previous stop in Arizona for Phoenix Lights, to CRSSD Fest, Tomorrowland, and even the white isle of Ibiza. Now, he will be helping us conclude the year on New Years Eve, December 31 at the City of Lights, Decadence Arizona.
In proper artist spotlight fashion, we’ll share some of our favorite tunes from the progressive great below. Take a listen and we’ll catch you on the dancefloor this NYE!
