Atlanta is known for many things, like the Falcons, peaches, and also being a Southeast Mecca for music and film/T.V. production. The city is constantly expanding its horizon in all fields to bring people together. For us electronic music lovers, our choices in shows and festivals have blown up over the past few years in both quantity and quality. This September might be the culmination of it all, with Music Midtown and Imagine packing huge lineups as well as other incredible events hosted by the best concert venues Atlanta has to offer. Here’s a look at all that’s going down in ATL next month.
Music Midtown is held each year in the city’s most revered and loved park, Piedmont. The park offers ample space for multiple stages to play host to artists spanning across so many genres. A lot of us in ATL consider this the perfect weekend getaway in the heart of Midtown. Once you step inside the park, you are in a totally different world full of music, incredible local food, and of course a Ferris wheel to look over the beautiful skyline at sunset. Some of the biggest names currently in the music industry are set to take over the weekend like Post Malone, Imagine Dragons, and Fall Out Boy. Check out the full lineup and find tickets here.
Two weeks later, Atlanta’s EDM fans crown jewel, Imagine Music Festival, will be bringing their aquatic fairytale to the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Imagine has been growing steadily since it’s first year, with more and more attendees falling in love with the perfect bubble of music, mermaids, and memories. That love has become a catalyst for all of the incredible artists that have been brought in each year. Check out our review of 2017, where we got to dance to heavy hitters like Deadmau5, Above & Beyond, Claude VonStroke, and more. This September will be super special because it’s the fifth year anniversary. If somehow you haven’t caught wind of the fire docket they have planned, including Armin Van Buuren, Bassnectar, GRiZ, and Green Velvet, check it out in full here.
In between all the festival madness, there are plenty of other ways to get down. One particular weekly event we would like to highlight is the Bass Family ATL HOT: House on Tuesdays. Local house and techno producers come together at the Red Martini lounge to throw an epic party, mixing in some of the best tracks out right now along with their own discography. We recommend following the event on Facebook because if you R.S.V.P. on the event page, there is free open bar and pizza till midnight (Queue “Pizza” by Antiup). Free booze, free pizza, and free house music. Do we need to say more?
