Rising house DJ Detlef has recently caused a serious commotion within the tech house community with his most dynamite EP to date, Swagon. So, if you haven’t heard it by now, it’s about time you do.
We’ve been keeping an eye and ear on Grecian native Alexander Georgiandis, aka Detlef, for quite some time now. Since first making waves in the underground community in 2010, he’s skillfully developed a punchy groove that’s caught the attention of heavy hitters like Hot Since 82, Jamie Jones, and Claude Von Stroke. Detlef left a major impression on us at the end of last year when he teamed up with the legendary Green Velvet on their Relief Records Bassick EP. Now, the rapid success of Detlef’s latest work has only further validated our early predictions that he’s going to become a major name on the club circuit sooner than later.
Out now on label Repopulate Mars, Swagon EP is bursting with hard-hitting, uptempo beats that will have you feeling yourself in no time. First up, we’ve got the title-track “Swagon,” a fresh rendition of the catchy Soulja Boy hit ‘Turn My Swag On,” featuring crisp, raspy vocals by Ossey James. Following this is the second track “Pump Up,” a solid club banger that will have you steadily two-stepping your way through the closing track “My Home,” yet another dance floor pleaser that will have you bumping through the night.
Last month at BPM festival, Green Velvet and LEON dropped “Swagon” and “Pump Up” in their sets and the EP immediately hit the charts. In a matter of days, Swagon EP soared to the #1 spot on Beatport’s Top Ten. With this came the title-track “Swagon” clenching the #1 overall release, followed by “Pump Up” peaking at #5 and “My Home” at #13 on the Top 100 Tech House chart. It’s no wonder then that Detlef would deservingly be named #5 Tech House Artist of 2016-2017 by Beatport just yesterday afternoon.
Word to the wise: give Swagon EP a good listen and familiarize yourself with Detlef quickly because the proof is in the pudding— he’s about to blow up massively this year.
