Diplo and his friends came by a couple weeks ago to show us what a real block party looks like. The weather was perfect, the Red Bull tents were flowing, and everyone was getting down. The Gold Room pulled out all the stops with an incredible raised VIP area, couches to take your group pics on, and plenty of space to shuffle.
The opener of the evening, Parkerhits, was a pleasant surprise. He started off his tour at the Block Party with an excellent showcase of what he’s made of. He had this explosive blend of hard dance, trap, and melodic dubstep that really drew us in. We don’t see too much hard dance-esque content in the ATL, and the crowd couldn’t help but bounce around. He gave us a refreshing mix with his original tracks such as his upbeat “Zoo” and infectious “Spark” that got us all dancing. You can check to see if he’s hitting up your city, we highly recommend getting a ticket.
Ghastly came on next and slaughtered the stage with heavy hitting tracks like his bass driven, “Ghosts N’ Sharks” and got all of our heads banging and hearts pumping with “End of the Night”. He even gifted the trance fans in the crowd with his newly released psy trance collab remix with Swage, “Birds”, and had us flying. Of course he couldn’t leave the stage without tugging at our heart strings with his electrifying, “We Might Fall”.

Lastly, Diplo took to the decks and all hell broke loose in the best of ways. The party was in full swing and we really had to be pulled away from the stage to refill our glasses. He dropped his fan favorite, “Revolution” and had us all singing our hearts out to the chorus. He really brought out our inner party animals with his fitting Jack Ü track “Jungle Bae” and kept it going with “Waist Time”. Gold Room once again killed it this year with an incredible lineup and bolstered up production. We definitely can’t wait to see what next year has in store for us. We were dazzled by the lights, hugged by the booming bass, and surrounded by the best people. It truly was another incredible block party for the books.
