The original “Hunger Games” movie is spectacular and apparently the book is even better. I wasn’t aware that there was a second movie in the works, “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” (in theaters 11/22), and after peeping the soundtrack’s track listing it was surprising to find Diplo’s name.
His record on the “Catching Fire” soundtrack is a collaborating with Sia and The Weeknd. The two vocalist blend seamlessly into the instrumental back beat. Echoing vocal edits compliment the percussive breaks and light melodic progression. It’s refreshing to see Diplo travel out of his comfort zone and into a project that is completely different from any he’s done over the last few years. The new Hunger Games soundtrack will be released on November 19th and it also features records by Ellie Goulding, The Lumineers, and many more.
