It’s no secret that Diplo and Lorde have been working together, we’ve seen various pictures and social media posts showing off their new friendship. Today the Mad Decent king finally released his much anticipated remix of Lorde’s hit “Tennis Court” via soundcloud.
“Diplo’s Andrew Agassi Remix” pokes some fun at retired American tennis player Agassi in it’s name and appropriately shows off Diplo’s goofy personality. Despite the extreme popularity Flume has drawn to his remix of the song, Diplo wanted to release his own take on the piece.
He takes a much more upbeat approach with a hip-hop feel by taking out the original bass and adding his own melody under the vocals. Fast drum synths with slow, smooth tech sounds on top make this remix extremely rhythmic but still calm in feel.
A decent amount of fans are comparing his remix to Flume’s, but their takes are completely different so I think the comparison is a little unfair.
Flume added what sounds like a slow, grand electronic orchestra to the song to really illustrate the meaning of the words and keeps a flow of the original song at almost all times. Diplo plays more off of the fun beat the song has and at one point changes the song completely, making it 100% his own. I think both remixes point out different aspects of how beautiful the song is by adding some unique sounds. Listen to both here.
