Yes, the king of making chicks (and even dudes!) express themselves is a well-known, Mad Decent stud, but is that the only reason he’s a success? With one of the most anticipated EPs of the summer coming out today, we’ve decided to do a little investigation on why Diplo’s newest EP Revolution is delivering and blowing up the iTunes charts everywhere.
Quality Marketing: Diplo began his marketing process for the new EP, Revolution, with the release of “Crown”, back in July. The track gained hype quickly through Facebook and Twitter which caused Diplo to release it as a free download. However, the track was only a taste of the twerking and crowd-jumping madness that the album Revolution had to offer.
Next up, was the massive release of “Revolution”, which is now as catchy as “Express Yourself” with a more futuristic, trap beat to it. Diplo had no problem marketing this one, as you can see below or watch via his Instagram at your own risk. Good marketing? Judging by the number of likes, yes!
Diversity:The EP features six tracks from a wide array of producers featuring: Angger Dimas, Travis Porter, Faustix, Imanos, Kai, Mike Posner, RiFF RaFF, Nicky Da B plus more! The variety of artists draws more of an audience and therefore, attributes to the already massive success Diplo is receiving for this EP.
Mad Decent: Diplo also has the massive support of the entire Mad Decent talent and fan base on his side. Including the support of popular producers like Dillon Francis, DJ Imanos, Riff Raff, and Major Lazer. The Mad Decent crew took to Twitter to express their reactions to the EP which attributed to more fans desiring a copy of the EP as well.
Diplo and Friends (BBC Radio 1XTRA): It helps to have a radio station dedicated to your tracks too! Diplo was sure to preview tracks from ‘Revolution’ in two of his most recent Diplo and Friends sets before the release of his EP.
The Overall EP: The quality of the tracks on a producer’s EP does have a major impact in the overall sales. Diplo proves that with four ass-shaking, bass-pumping tracks, it’s no wonder everyone is trying to get a copy of their own.
The EP begins with “Biggie Bounce”, which is a booty banger in one. Anger Dimas and Travis Porter add vocals and energetic hip-hop lyrics to make this and the remix a one in a million. Let’s turn to the gem of the EP, “Revolution”: the track begins with chilling vocals that flow into trap infused snares. Once you hear the original, you’ll definitely be singing and twerking to the remix featuring Boaz Van De Beatz.
The hip-hop continues as Diplo collaborated with Riff Raff, Mike Posner and others to create the popular “Crown”. Fast forward to the third track, “Rock Steady” and a rap battle begins featuring artists like Action Bronson, Nicky B and more!
