20th Century Fox is set to make a movie centered around Electronic Dance Music, which will feature distinguished DJ and producer, Diplo, and it has now been revealed that it is to be directed by David Katzenberg. Katzenberg, at only 30 years old, has directed several episodes of MTV’s television series, “Awkward”. He also co-created the film “The Hard Times of RJ Berger” with Seth Grahame-Smith. Diplo, as well as Kevin Kusatsu (his business partner), will be executive producers of this forthcoming EDM movie.
Co-written by Adam Weinstock and Andy Jones, the movie’s plot revolves around three teenagers trying to get into a music festival to see Diplo perform. The movie has not yet been titled, but supposedly it can be described as a mixture of “8 Mile” and “Project X”. This is not the only electronic music focused movie in the works, as the appeal to a massive younger audiences has become quite apparent over the past few years. EDM going Hollywood is yet another prime example of the magnitude that this music trend has reached.
