As fans, we are all guilty at times of taking for granted the amount of blood, sweat, and tears that goes into artists as they prepare for one of the most rewarding and nerve-wracking sets that they perform: closing out the main stage fo a festival. Memorable and unforgettable is the goal, so playing the same old isn’t going to fly. Claude VonStroke is no different, and as he approached his performance, an idea came to mind:
If you were at Movement this year, you understand that it was a very special performance. For those who couldn’t make it, Claude VonStroke Live in Detroit will be released on June 22nd, include 20+ VIP edits of Dirtybird tracks, new tracks, and one fresh track from the Big Bird himself, with “Maharaja.”
I’ve played Movement more than 10 times, and every time it’s one of the most nerve-racking shows of the year. I always want to bring the hottest possible set for Detroit, it’s where it all started, and my parents always come watch. My set is very much an old-school style DJ set, all music no-one’s heard before, special versions, secret edits, all the stuff I’ve been saving just for this performance. It seems crazy to release a mix album in today’s world, but the amount of incredible original music I have collected from both known and unknown producers will make this something people can get really excited about.
Claude has never forgotten the 15 years of his youth in Detroit, and his 2018 Movement Festival closing set shows how important it is to keep the dream alive, and get up for the down stroke.
