This past weekend, AMFAMFAMF hosted Shaq’s first DJ performance in Los Angeles, along with a monstrous set from Destructo. The event, which took place at the Avalon in Hollywood, started with an opening set from DJ Dateless at 10:00PM and went on until 4:00AM. The Avalon, which has open space on the ground floor and seats up on the orchestra section, was a perfect venue for both DJ Diesel and Destructo.
The founder of AMFAMFAMF, Destructo, played an insane 1 hour opening set filled with his usual G-House bangers and some unreleased tracks that we’re hoping to be released in the very near future. Rocking his “Los Angeles” shirt, Destructo performed in front of his home crowd where fans were seen wearing “Friendship” and “Holy Ship” merchandise. Fans were graced with an effortless set that featured techno, g-house, and hip-hop as Destructo threw down for the large crowd.
As Destructo finished his set, an ominous man in a black hoodie and a Jason mask made his way up onto the stage. Music was blaring as this unknown character unzipped his hoodie and threw his Jason mask into the crowd. As the mask came off, fans were greeted by the menacing yet playful face of none other than NBA Hall of Famer, Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq aka DJ Diesel, played a monstrous set to his home crowd. He was throwing bangers left and right making sure the crowd knew he was finally home. His debut LA performance was definitely impressive as he played a set filled with hard-hitting dubstep, trap, and hip-hop. The crowd control was insane as Shaq yelled to the fans to get into the largest mosh-pit I’ve ever seen inside a club. The 1 hour set had the crowd moshing and head-banging all night long. It was definitely a set to remember and we hope that DJ Diesel plays more shows to his home crowd in Los Angeles.
After Shaq’s groundbreaking debut, fans were treated with a special surprise B2B set between Destructo and Kill The Noise. The duo mixed all different sounds of EDM as the remaining crowd moshed and jumped around. The set was packed with trap, dubstep, g-house, hip-hop, and even a little bit of progressive house. It was a surprise we didn’t see coming but are so happy that it happened. We hope to see more surprises from the awesome production company, AMFAMFAMF!
