Not yet a year removed from the release of “Going Gorillas”, Doctor P’s decided it’s time to put a new spin on one of his most successful tracks in recent times. Shaun Brockhurst has long been one of the most well respected names in bass music: putting out legendary tracks like “Sweet Shop”, “Watch Out”, “Tetris” and countless others. While it’s too early to say this will be an all-timer, his latest offering no doubt lives up to his lofty standards of bass terror.
Taking the best parts of the original and building on it, Doctor P takes this remix over the edge. This track is the definition of high energy bass music…with blaring, nasty horns and screeching synths over the top, it’s tough to categorize this track. We reached out to Doctor P and let him explain what he was going for in this remix. Check it out below
I often do remixes and VIPs of my own tracks, but a lot of the time I just keep them in my DJ sets and they never get released. I really liked the way this one turned out, so I thought it was worth giving it its own release. It’s been causing some wildness on the dance floors, so the name “Doctor P’s bananas remix” seemed fitting.
I’ve always really liked 100bpm tracks (I guess most people call it glitch hop), and had this idea in my head of “Going Gorillas” sounding good at 100bpm. So I opened the project and changed the tempo to 100bpm to see what would happen. I didn’t initially mean to change it as much as I did, but I kept adding and changing stuff until it ended up sounding really different from the original track.
I’ve been waiting for like 5 years for 100bpm to have its time in the spotlight. There are some strong 100bpm tracks around at the moment, so hopefully its time is just around the corner.
Outside of an appearance at Mysteryland next month, all appears to be quiet right now on the Doctor P front. Hopefully this release is a sign of more things to come, so lets cross our fingers and stay on the lookout for more news coming from the Doctor in the near future.
