Normally, when I think of Massachusetts, I tend to think of boat shoes and country clubs, so its incredibly refreshing that the bay state was the birthplace of the bass-invader duo, Barely Alive. With a bevy of original productions, collaborations, and warped, wonky remixes, they boast an impressive catalog ready to be beaten down in a live setting.
While their sound design is present throughout their discography, Barely Alive maintains a presence that is supported by their ability to blend genres and work with artists out of the electronic element, as is evident with the above track, featuring lyricist and rapper Honey C.
The collabs aren’t just limited to eclectic artists from other musical backgrounds. Electronic music thrives in an environment of cooperation, and with some help from the industry pioneer Datsik, they flesh out their ability to rock the dancefloor, and throw down some grizzly 4-on-the-floor rhythms.
When Barely Alive takes full control of the studio output, the result is nothing short of massive, especially considering this buckwild dubstep track fresh out of the labs and ready to have you head-bang yourself into a trance.
If you’re in the DMV, and looking to soak up this bassachusetts combo, look no further than Dreamscape Festival in Darlington, Maryland. Taking place from June 1st through 4th, tickets are ripe and ready for picking right here!
