The English producer and DJ Chris lake has been on quite the mean-streak lately. Well, I take that back, he’s never really slowed down or cooled off. He garnered recognition from the legend Pete Tong toward the beginning of his career, nearly 12 years ago, and hasn’t stopped turning up ears and impressing listeners since. His sound is ever changing, but nonetheless skyrocketing in plays and spins around the world. From vocal house to progressive, to just some straight up dirty classic sounds, he does it flawlessly.
Snuggling up to a nice spot on charts and staying there consistently, it’s clear to see his knack at creating hit after hit, and on top of it, throwing down incredible sets on turntables far and wide. His newer track “Operator” for example, was a song he did zero promotion for, besides hand it to a few DJ friends and it blew up faster than you could say “ring ring.” Annie Mac named it “hottest record in the world,” and it became the ship anthem on Holy Ship!, the music festival on the water brought to you by none other than Destructo(also headlining) this year.
The track has become a mainstay in many DJ’s sets, and it’s not hard to see why. But it’s a very different sound from a lot of other tunes Chris Lake has put out, for example his track “Helium” ft. Jareth. It happens to be one of our favorites, with it’s deep bass line, grounding vocals and classic progressive house sound.
Jumping from one sound to the next, he can do no wrong. His newest track leaps back toward the sound of “Operator,” with a dark and booming sound, and whispering lyrics that lead you into a frantic drop of dancing joy. We added the video on this one as well, because it’s creepily awesome.
And we couldn’t leave out one of our favorite Chris Lake remixes. His remix to Jess Glynne’s track “Hold My Hand” is another one of Chris Lake’s tracks we will never skip over when it shuffles on. Another track with a signature Chris Lake feel to it, with a deep house vibe this time, leaving in Jess Glynne’s gorgeous lyrics.
