Dreamscape Festival Artist Spotlight: Destructo

Destructo is considered one of the pillars that helped to construct what the EDM scene in the U.S. is today. Gary Richards, the L.A. based producer, found his DJ roots in the underground warehouse scene back in the 90’s, quickly moving up to host his own weekly segment “The Sermon”. Richards quickly started to create even more electronic music events throughout L.A. He helped build up unknown artists, such as Wax Motif, founded Hits HARD, Nitrus, and 1500 Records, and had a hand in creating the first two years of EDC Las Vegas. Now he is the founder and CEO of HARD Events, including Hard Summer, Holy Ship!, and Hard Day of the Dead. Within the next year, he is planning to move Hard Summer to Hawaii, after successfully implementing the festival in the U.K., Tokyo, and Australia.

Amongst all of this hard work of bringing fans amazing experiences and helping introduce artists into the limelight, it’s amazing that he can also have time to throw down some music in between. Destructo is always looking to push the envelope and do something new with his sound. He finds that while matching things that don’t necessarily make sense, it’s still worth to experiment and sometimes it can come out spectacular. Recently he has had a heavy hand in creating some G-House hits, such as “Catching Plays”, “Dare You 2 Move” and “Party Up”. His most recent EP ‘Renegade’ wholly represents this new blend and features the artists that we ought to keep on our radar.

Destructo will be hitting the stage at Dreamscape in Maryland this summer. He loves breaking down the barrier and really interacting with the crowd so this is a performance that is definitely worth catching.
