Dreamstate SoCal 2019 is easily going to be one of the best editions yet for trance fanatics. Dreamers can once again travel to the NOS Center this November, which will be transformed into an otherworldly haven filled with six magical stages that will be booming the entire universe of trance music across the airwaves. While the ambiance and welcoming environment of our fellow ravers will be just as enchanting, we all know that the lineup for this year is beyond what we could have imagined.
There are the legends of trance set to be in attendance such as Above & Beyond, Gareth Emery, Andrew Bayer B2B Ilan Bluestone as well as special showcases of projects like James Dymond and Chris Scheizer’s Pathfinders and Standerwick and Reorder’s Skypatrol. There will also be some new blood like Jason Ross, Haliene, and Blastoyz hopping up on the decks. However, what really caught our attention was the announcement of Abraxis, Seven Lions and Dimibo’s new psytrance project.
This year at Dreamstate will be the trio’s debut as their new project, and if we know anything from what the two have done with psytrance on their own, we can only imagine how epic this reveal is going to be. The man behind the mane, Jeff Montalvo, is known for mixing just about any genre he feels like and does it exceptionally. His taste in his psytrance production is incredible, with tracks like “Sirens”, “Lucy”, and his collab track with Blastoyz and Fiora, “After Dark” showing off his range.
Dimibo was always headfirst into the world of trance, with their releases going back as far as 2014. Over the last couple of years, Dimibo has been working closely with Seven Lions, Jason Ross, and Magnus to really put out some incredible tracks and putting themselves on the map with their talent. Their gorgeous extended collab mix of “The Gorge” with Ross and their own pulse-raising “Shadowfax” are just a couple of examples of what they can do. Filip Pankovcin and Loch Stimpson met in their home state of Washington and knew immediately where they aligned in their passions for trance. Their first track they produced, ‘Shangri La,’ won them a trip to Las Vegas to perform at Electric Daisy Carnival as winners of Insomniac’s Discovery Project. After that they really honed in on their passions and found their way into the world of psytrance.
When they collaborated with Seven Lions on remixing Excision’s “The Paradox”, their reach to new fans exploded and their friendship began. Abraxis is described as this on their site,
“Under the crimson, primordial sky, surrounded by the jagged black rocks of the ancient volcanic mountain, the wretched Warlock reached into the dark embrace of the fissure until his hand touched a smooth glassy surface. Cold as ice. His fist closed around The Serpents Eye. Slowly he withdrew it and held it before him in the fading light of the blood red suns. It glowed from within. A ghostly emerald light. Strange and eternal”.
On Facebook, they had this message for those seeking to be apart of something bigger themselves, allowing those curious enough to apply on their website, with the results revealing an 8 bit teaser of their first single, “Black Rainbow”,
“We are looking for people with extraordinary cognitive abilities to become part of our movement. Selected individuals will earn membership and receive first invitations to all teachings, ceremonies and rituals”
They really know how to keep us on the edge of our dancing toes. The visuals alone from this description has us dreaming of what that stage production is going to look like. We cannot wait to check out Abraxis and let them completely take over our souls. Let us know if you will be joining us at the institute and what your results are! Check out some of our favorite tracks by them below. If you still need passes, weekend and single tickets are still available. We can’t wait to escape into this perfect world with you.
