If you haven’t heard of Drum Circle Productions – we actually don’t blame you. That’s because the Richmond, VA based promo company is a new-born baby in the scope of the area’s burgeoning electronic music scene. But if we know one thing about this mysterious new group; it’s that they know how to make an entrance.
For their first major shebang, Drum Circle will bring Denver native, glitch-hop specialist, and Tipper protege kLL sMTH to an intimate venue, Strange Matter, on Feb. 23 for an evening of all things underground and low-end.
An Additech Records favorite, kLL sMTH is hot off the heels of major sets at festivals from Shambhala and Tipper’s 4321 Event to Miami’s Fractal Beach. He’s an artist currently riding a tidal wave of international success – and it doesn’t look like he’ll be crashing anytime soon.
In fact, kLL sMTH’s fruition made such an impact on the scene that Drum Circle Productions materialized solely around the idea of bringing his music to Richmond. Founder Kyle Rudd says that after reaching out to the artist to perform in RVA, he realized that his ideas were exponentially larger than any single show.
“In the following days a vision for something more than a single show that connected a lot of ideas I’d been having swimming around my brain surfaced and birthed a name. Our promotional team is entirely composed of volunteers who share the vision and I am surprised every day by how much energy is available when we have a common goal.”
Support for Drum Circle’s inaugural show includes sets by local acts including the psychedlics dub stylings of MesmerEyez, the collaborative hip-hop duo Vintage Landscapes, and a trip to the underground with Aight Word.
