Original Report (January 2nd, 1:00 PM): On January 1st, 2015, Echostage, Washington D.C.’s finest concert venue, was set to further kick off the New Year with the bass-filled sounds of Flux Pavilion, Yellow Claw, Slander and Snails.
Though at roughly 12:45 AM on January 2nd, as Yellow Claw was at the end of their set, the dance-floor lights were suddenly turned on and fans were forced to leave the venue. While this spawned confusion, rumors quickly spread that something unfortunate had happened – a man had fallen from the Echostage balcony.
These rumors spread for under an hour before pictures began circulating on Twitter, confirming the incident. However, as of now there have been no official reports on what sparked this tragedy.
WhiteRaverRafting journalist, Joshua Schellhammer, was on the scene and has noted that the venue and event curators handled the situation elegantly. Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department and medical staff rushed quickly to the corner of the venue where the event had taken place, blocked off the area and continued to help escort people to the exit of the venue.
We applaud Echostage and event curators, Steez Promo, for handling the situation with swift care. Nothing is more important during a music event than the life of a music lover.
Update (January 2nd, 1:03 PM): There have still been no official records or reports released on this situation. We’re still unclear if the male jumped, was pushed or fell off of the balcony – however that isn’t important as the guests health is the main concern. Though, his sister has taken to Twitter in an effort to clarify:
#echostage my brother did not jump, he fell. I’d appreciate if people who don’t know what their talking about would just stop, thank you.
