Electric Daisy Carnival New York is getting a ton of upgrades including a new site, three-day expansion and camping. Part of the move has to be related to Insomniac’s recent partnership with Live Nation.
Here’s what Pasquale Rotella confirmed today:
- EDC NY 2014 will take place Memorial Day Weekend 2014 (May 23 – 25)
- There will be a new location (’94 Woodstock)
- The Owl is coming along with upgraded production
- Vegas is getting an all new Kinetic Field for 2014
Electric Daisy Carnival New York was severely lacking compared to Vegas and even Chicago. It looks like this year however the East Coast festival will be a much more substantial offering.
It’s interesting that Rotella chose to move EDCNY outside of the city and change it to a three-day camping festival. Camping festivals are a much larger commitment and generally draw a better more matured crowd. Maybe that’s what he was looking for when he decided to move EDC.
Will it rival Vegas? Probably not, but why would you want to outdo the flagship event? Regardless the upgrades to EDC New York are definitely for the better and will secure its place on the East Coast festival circuit.
