EDC NY Artist Spotlight: The Magician

Going from a dynamic duo, to solo, to a bunch of unique hits, to starting your own record label, to smashing all of the hits for yourself and those are your label, you must be doing something right. And DJ/Producer Stephen Fasano, aka The Magician doesn’t have that name for no reason.

After departing the duo Aeroplane in 2010, Stephen transformed into The Magician and in 2014 really showed the world what he was made of with remixing Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be” that propelled him into a name to remember, and 12 million plays later, the rest is history.

But even as The Magician’s success grew over the years and really took off over the past two, from the beginning he has been making his “Magic Tape” mixes, putting together smooth tapes of popular and underground house music from the inception of his persona. You can still listen to all of them in their entirety on Soundcloud from the first five years ago, to the most current #60 which was just released a few weeks ago, to get a feel for what to expect from his set at EDC NY this year.

But as Stephen has a great ear for his own tracks, he created his own independent label Potion in 2014 that has seen the likes of releases from artists such as Arches, Kokiri, The Aston Shuffle, Bobby Nourmand, and more.
