EDC Orlando 2017 Delivers Another Year of Bright Lights [Event Review]

Insomniac is no stranger to delivering a powerful experience that will become an ingrained memory for life. In their most recent chapter of the famous EDC festival, we visited sunny Orlando, Florida for an unforgettable, two-day event. Kicking things off is a wonderland of excitement that greats you as you walk through the gates. After quickly passing through a few round of security, we found ourselves inside within an appropriate amount of time and were greeted by an array of easy-going ravers! The first thing that you notice are carnival rides that help make EDC Orlando stand out from any other festival quickly.

As the night continues on though, it’s like comparing tech house to dubstep in what the festival grounds becomes. Lights are glowing from every direction, fire dances in the crowds, LED displays hypnotize you, and wild costumes roam the land. The first stop we made our way over to was the boomboxARTCAR that greeted us at the entrance. While the artists here may be small in comparison the main stage names, their sound was powerful and there was a reason these guys were here to play! The light-hearted atmosphere surrounding the stage was easy to get lost in and shuffle until your hear was contained.

Next up, we stopped over at the circuitGROUNDS to catch a few sets from some more noteworthy and familiar names. This area was a little more filled out and proudly displayed a twisting swing ride that had its riders left too dizzy to walk at times, although the view must have been amazing for the performances! The fireworks and confetti made this one side party that was worth attending.

Before heading over to the main attraction, we made a small detour into the VIP area to let out the inner child in us. We couldn’t help but take a quick stop at the ball pit to see what all the excitement was about. Whoever’s idea it was to include this at a festival should receive a serious promotion, because it was just person after person diving in to take photos! Although we passed on taking a jump, we lived vicariously through each attendee that made it into the pit and loved every reaction.

Finally, the moment we have been waiting for all night. kineticFIELD. The energy this crowd gave off was like no other and the stage is one of a kind. Each performance was just one notch better then the last and coupling this was an amazing gathering of electronic music lovers, which is the cherry on top. Crackling fireworks helped paint the sky as confetti streamers found their way all around the stage. Random bursts of fire left shadows that danced alongside each person as hired performers helped set the mood right with their unique costumes.

Overall, if there was one festival worth traveling out of state for it’s EDC Orlando. Even if you can’t make it to Florida, hurry up and grab tickets for the closest EDC to you and get ready to experience an event like no other. From the perfect weather to everything that Orlando offers before, after, and during the festival, it’s hard to have a bad time with all the great memories you’ll create!
