Residents of Morrison, Colorado, home of the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, went after two representatives from the venue during a town meeting earlier this month. They continued to voice complaints about how the noise travels whenever they’re hosting EDM shows. Specifically they mentioned how their windows will rattle and buildings shake.
According to Mayo Earl Auckland, the complaints have been continuous for about two years while “the contingent has grown”. Apparently the basslines reverberating from Red Rocks are becoming a “quality of life issue” for local residents. One business owner nearby said that the guests at their hotel have trouble sleeping through the noise.
Red Rocks doesn’t have an overwhelming amount of EDM shows and the music ends by 2:00 AM. The iconic venue also brings in music lovers from around the world and these individuals regularly patronize local businesses.
It’s crazy how we can live in a world where one major American city is literally bankrupt and others complain about a little bit of noise a few nights a month during the summer.
